Set back at the Hall

This week we had some disappointing news at Lytham Hall. First we learned that we have been unsuccessful in our bid to the Coastal Communities Fund to tackle flooding, extend car parking, and introduce cycle racks and lighting into the parkland. This much needed investment would have enabled us to grow the capacity of the site, and offer better and safer access to the public. There is a silver lining though, our congratulations go to Park View 4U who were successful and it’s good to know that Lytham is one of only ten towns to be benefitting from some of this Government cash.

Our second set back was the news that the much anticipated Lytham Live! Concerts featuring Britain’s Got Talent winner’s Collabro, has been moved to Blackpool’s North Pier. Lytham has lost out on these headline acts, and the Hall has lost out on the funding this would have brought. We will be working hard to bring similar events to the wonderful setting at the Hall next year.

This week contractors have made good progress on the restoration of the South Prospect garden and in the process revealed remains of earlier garden paths and walls. Our felled larch logs have now been milled into steps to be used on the Mount and there is a great sense of excitement as the garden restoration begins to take shape.
