Winter Art Fair: 8 & 9 November 2014

With less than 4 weeks to go before The Winter Art Fair at Lytham Hall, make sure you add this date to your diary and enjoy fantastic quality art and craft with great artists from the Fylde Coast confirmed.

As the seasons change and Winter approaches, the Hopeful and Glorious Winter Art Fair on Saturday 8th November and Sunday 9th November 2014 10.30am -4pm guarantees to delight and surprise. Over 25 amazing artists, designers and makers will be showing the best of British art and craft at the Fylde coast’s Georgian gem, Lytham Hall. A stunning range of art and craft will be shown including mosaics, paintings, textiles and ceramics. Prices range from £2-£250.

Winter Fair artists include many of Lancashire’s finest working at the top of their artform including Fleetwood’s Katie Hampson’s fast pace illustrations (which she will be demonstrating at the Winter Art Fair), Making Memories textile and sculptures from Fleetwood, Jewelart from Catforth, Enchanted Woods from Lytham showing beautiful handpainted lampshades and mushrooms, and Mitsy Bitsy from St Michaels on Wyre.

Winter Art Fair organisers, Hopeful and Glorious, aim to raise the profile of the County’s art and craft and create truly enjoyable events for artists and audiences.

The artists have been specially selected for their great quality artwork and artists from across the country have applied to show and sell their work during the weekend at Lytham. The range of artworks will ensure that within the Fair there will be lots to see and something to appeal to everyone. Enjoy a lovingly crafted day out in the delightful location of Lytham Hall.

Claire Mitchell from Mitsy Bitsy in St Michaels on Wyre will be bringing her fabulous upholstery and soft furnishing to the Winter Art Fair. Claire will show work in progress which is a real eye-opener in understanding the traditional techniques of upholstery including webbing, re-springing and horse hair stuffing. She brings a contemporary twist to tradition and makes unique one off pieces.

Lytham artist Carlye from Enchanted Woods will be showing her beautifully painted lampshades which create a unique focal point and unusual artwork which would light up any home.

Samantha Taylor, Jewelart, from Catforth is a member of The Arts and Craft Guild of Lancashire. Samantha will be exhibiting her contemporary sculptural designer jewellery - created by combining copper wire, a treasure trove of beautiful beads, vintage buttons and unique pieces of fused glass.

Katie Hampson is a young British artist from the North West, and despite her age; she has already many accolades to her name. Working with mixed media, her vibrant and deep use of colours are created with lush coatings of watercolours, creating details with acrylic, inks and coloured pencils; the unique production of her work results in outstanding and memorable pieces of unique art.

Making Memories artist, Naomi Lynch will be showing her ranges of work from textiles, cards, fabric jewellery and sewing accessories, to artwork including sculpture, collage and assemblage. “My stall will mainly include my own 3D artworks, focusing on the past and times gone by.”

The Winter Art Fair is a great opportunity to meet the artists and understand the range of creative processes that the artists use to make their work. Some artists will also have activities for visitors to have a go at making.

Gordon from Hopeful and Glorious explained “We are looking forward to our Winter Art Fair on the Fylde coast. It is a perfect event to meet artists, see beautiful, original art and craft and buy a special item to treasure forever. We work with amazing jewellers, textile and glass designer-makers, ceramicists, sculptors, artists, designers and makers to bring together the best of British art and craft. We want to present glorious events which are enjoyable for artists and audiences and celebrate some fine local artworks.”

The fair is open on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November from 10.30am until 4pm and admission for visitors is free. Entrance to the Park is free for the whole weekend and tours of Lytham Hall are available at noon and 2pm each day.
