Mrs Clipstone and her pram

Teamwork is the name of the game says a young actor who returns to Lancashire for the final outdoor play of the summer this Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon August 28.

Cardiff-based Ffion Glyn will be in the spotlight in Illyria’s production of Danny, the Champion of the World at Lytham Hall where she will be doubling up as the pram-pushing vicar’s wife Mrs. Clipstone and a hawk-eyed gamekeeper.

Ffion has revelled in working with Illyria’s cast of six who come to Lytham Hall for the penultimate performance of a 95 day open air tour.

"With the demands of a lengthy tour being so challenging, I'm pleased Illyria put together such a cohesive team. They're a joy to perform alongside on stage."

Welsh-speaking Ffion who trained at Birmingham University and the East 15 Acting School feels her versatility has been strengthened by the productions inventively devised by Illyria’s director Oliver Gray.

“At Lytham Hall I have played very diverse roles from Fluellen in Shakespeare’s Henry V to Mum in George’s Marvellous Medicine. I greatly enjoy the doubling up in each play which is an essential part of the work of outdoor touring companies.”

Ffion is full of praise for the breadth of Roald Dahl’s novels.

“There is sadness and tension in Danny, as well as much humour, and that has surprised and appealed to our audiences this summer. I think the families at Lytham Hall are in for a Bank Holiday treat.”
