The Emperor's New Clothes
Hans Christian Andersen’s much loved story The Emperor’s New Clothes will provide a spectacular finale to the Lytham Hall four play outdoor season next Sunday 27 August.
Illyria’s annual family show on the late August Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon has become a tradition for Lytham families over the past seven years, with 600 flocking to see Danny, the Champion of the World last year, the largest attendance of Illyria’s nationwide summer tour.
Callum Stewart, making his debut with Illyria this summer, feels that it is the inventive touches of Oliver Gray’s production which capture the audience’s attention.
“I have spent all summer cavorting about as the Captain of the Guards on a frilly horse called Rosie which has been a huge hit with the children. It’s a musical and entertaining show in which we double up furiously and engage fully with the audience, especially the little’ uns sitting right at the front.”
Julian Wilde, organiser of the outdoor season is expecting a show full of entertainment and visual comedy lasting two hours, including an interval.
“Reviews of Illyria’s four month nationwide summer tour which has included a week at Cornwall’s famous cliff-edge Minack Theatre have been positive and supportive. We have bookings from over Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside and I am sure Illyria will provide us with a Bank Holiday treat and a memorable finale to a successful season,” he said.
