SECOND DECADE OF  OUTDOOR THEATRE AT LYTHAM HALL

Midsummer’s Day 2020 will see the launch of the second decade of successful open-air theatre at Lytham Hall. Chapterhouse Theatre Company will travel to Lytham for an early evening show on June 21st and will present Laura’s Turner’s stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s iconic novel Emma

The first ten years have seen 45 plays, 15,000 attending and £50,000 raised for the Hall’s Restoration Fund and organiser Julian Wilde is confident that there is always plenty of appetite for open air theatre in the area.

“In 2010 there were just three performances at Lytham Hall, with 600 attending and five Patrons. For 2020, we have five diverse plays in a season which will be supported by no fewer than 25 Patrons. I am expecting to top 2000 attending this summer, particularly as there is again no increase in ticket prices.”

Chapterhouse will be back at the Hall with Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream on July 12 before Fylde coast outdoor theatre fans welcome the return of touring specialists Illyria with three contrasting shows in August.

On Sunday 16th August at 6.00 pm artistic director Oliver Gray will stage his new production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing and the following weekend will see a spectacular family show The Further Adventures of Dr. Dolittle, with music and amazing puppetry, on Saturday afternoon 22nd at 4.00pm

On the following evening Gilbert and Sullivan fans from all over the north of England are likely to be at Lytham Hall to see HMS Pinafore on Sunday 23 August at 6.00 pm., as Illyria provide a high octane end to the season.

Further details of ticket availability, prices and sales points for all five shows are expected during February.
